Nan Davis is Mountain Made’s Featured Artist for August/September.  We were finally able to get her into the gallery last weekend for some of her trademark “speed painting” techniques.

Nan says this about her artwork, “I start my paintings by creating chaos – marks and smears that are spontaneous and beautiful all on their own. Then I build energy with color and line and then I create content.”

During her demonstration Nan switched between two different pieces and even we were impressed by the energy she poured into each separate piece.

She goes on to say,”Sometimes the content is an image and sometimes just strong beauty – color and texture, light and dark.”

Nan says that her artwork doesn’t have a philosophical message… they are just paint, colors, textures and surprises. Her fine art pieces range from $900 to $2100 USD.

“I want to create art that you will look at again and again. I want to create a painting that draws you in to look closely to see the mystery of its creation. ​I want you to feel the pleasure and the joy of original art
​still warm with creative vibration.”

Nan will be presenting a solo art exhibit “The Way I See It” at the Asheville School from October 11 -31, 2018. Twenty-five percent of all show sales will be donated to our Pisgah Legal Services.
