It is always interesting to us, to learn how an artist gets started. But of all the stories we have heard over the years, Terri Sigler’s is one of the most unique: according to Terri she started her journey into traditional glassblowing in 2006, when her husband gifted her with a glassblowing class!
Naturally Terri thought he was crazy but hey since the class included a week-long stay at a really luxurious hotel (not to mention she didn't want lose the non-refundable class fee), she went along with it.
As you can see by Terri's work, that single class sparked a passion for glass-making within her. Now her glass art pieces are some of the most popular items in the gallery.
We invite you come by the gallery this Saturday June 4, 2016 and listen to her explain how she make her unique glass art.

The book length poem, The End of the Curse, recounts the dramatic events of 2016 World Series Game 7 in which the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in extra innings to end their long championship drought.
It is written in the style of the famous baseball poem, Casey at the Bat, which was penned in 1888 by Ernest Thayer.
The End of the Curse author William Stanish will be on hand Saturday August 25, 2018 to sign personal copies of this great book.
We’ll have all of our S&D sale items set up on special tables in and outside the gallery – everything on our tables have been priced to sell (discounted from 50% to 75% off) !

Nan Davis says, “I am a painter. When I cook the kitchen is a mess, when I garden I am covered in dirt and mud. So when I paint I am covered in paint. I start my paintings by creating chaos – marks and smears that are spontaneous and beautiful all on their own. Then I build energy with color and line and then I create content.”
“Sometimes my painting is an image and sometimes just strong beauty – color and texture, light and dark. Color and Texture is what is all about for me and with paint I create surfaces that pull you closer in to take a look.”

THE YEAR 2020 – An Interactive Art Project & Public History Journal
2020 is a year of Disease, Unease, Uncertainties but is also a time for Hope & Heroes.
At Mountain Made, a downtown Asheville art gallery, we are creating a public history journal of poetry, personal musings, thoughtful insights and yes, rants on “The Year 2020”. They could be funny, lighthearted or serious.
We want to offer our visitors an unique opportunity to share their poetry, thoughts, insights and personal experiences about the Year 2020.
We all have a lot of time to think about things this year. So we invite you to come by the gallery and take a moment put it on paper and share your thoughts with the world.
Last Chance for YOU the Public to Participate in Our Interactive 2020 Art Project
2020 has been a year of disruptions: Disease, Unease and Uncertainties. But it also a time for Hope & Real Life Heroes.
Here Mountain Made during American Craft Week we are creating a public history journal of poetry, essays, personal musings, thoughtful insights and yes, rants on “The Year 2020”.
Your offerings could be funny, lighthearted or serious.
We are also offering any of our gallery visitors an unique opportunity to share their own art in our very popular public "Graffiti" Painting Project!

We finally persuaded that grand old elf to return…after much whining, begging and even some subtle bribery – who knew Santa was gaga for good chocolates?
But since this is Santa’s busiest part of the year, we could only get him to drop by the Mountain Made art gallery at certain times. So we invite everyone to come by on two Sundays, December 6 & 13th, 2020, from 1 to 4 pm.
You are welcome to bring the entire family to safely visit with our “rustic” mountain elf as he sits behind his sneeze shield (Ah-choo!) . You are also welcome to take photos of Santa and your child.

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day has always been primarily a virtual event, so here at Mountain Made we will observe it on it’s traditional date, the last Sunday, April 25th, 2021.
In honor of this day, we invite you to check out the work of Mountain Made's own Max Cooper...
Max says, "A pinhole camera is simple. Its tiny aperture is literally nothing: A hole. ... Almost no light passes through, and the light that does is so dim that an exposure must be made over the course of several minutes.
It is rendered over time, losing the sharp reproduction of reality that we’ve come to associate with modern photography.
Still, even the simplest camera must be aimed, usually by a photographer. For my part, I have photographed these things precisely because they are so over-photographed: Beautiful destinations, gorgeous and dangerous falls at the end of the trail.
These are places we usually photograph to show we were there; I wanted to photograph them because they are there."
PopUP PHOTO EXHIBIT by Catherine "Kitsy" Stratton
Fri, 4:30 – 6:00 PM
We invite you to come by our gallery for a popUP exhibit by popular landscaper photographer by Catherine "Kitsy" Stratton.
We are inviting you to come by Mountain Made, purchase and then create your own designs on a sun hat in Patriotic colors using alcohol and indelible ink markers.

You can purchase a white fabric sun visor for only $4.00 to use in this special 4th of July art project! We recommend that you and your family come by early since supplies are limited – we have only 100 hats for sale!

You are on a weekend get-away with the family but your kids are getting bored?
You came to Asheville to check out the Smoky Mountains, visit the Biltmore and maybe get some early Christmas shopping done.
But the kids are driving you a little crazy!
If this sounds like familiar, then you should come by the Mountain Made Gallery this Saturday (11:00AM - 5:00 PM) for one of our (slightly) famous Interactive Art Projects.
This weekend our public art project is entitled "Autumn Art with Leaves - Fun with Hank & Hortense Hedgehog".
Did you know that the name Hortense is Latin for "she of the garden"? What better way to welcome the Fall than with creating "animals" with fall leaves?
