The Mountain Made Art Gallery will be hosting monthly demonstrations by popular glass artists during the 2018 summer season in conjunction with the Chihuly installation/exhibition throughout the Biltmore Estate from May 17 through Oct 7. Check our event listings for more details.
The Summer of Glass 2018 is a community/region wide celebration of glass and the rich history of glassmaking in Ashevile and around Western North Carolina.
It is a wonderful combination of glass artists, individual collectors, galleries (like Mountain Made), other local businesses, museums and nonprofits, who have all come together in a collaborative effort to highlight contemporary glass art in our community as well as the history of glass-making in Western North Carolina.
In September of 2017 the Biltmore Estate announced its plans to host an exhibition of Dale Chihuly’s glass sculptures on the estate grounds from May 17–October 7, 2018.
By November, the NC Glass Center gathered together business and cultural leaders as well as individual glass artists in a round table discussion to plan out and create a six-month long celebration of glass art from the area.
This partnership has lead to a series of special exhibits and events from May–October 2018, which highlight the WNC glass art experience and the history (and global impact) WNC glass.
