NC Woodworkers Showcase Their Art During American Craft Week
The annual American Craft Week event, to be held October 7-16, is always a fun thing to do in Asheville. The Mountain Made store will be hosting a special gallery reception and live wood carving demostration on Friday nite, October 7th, to kick-off this event.
“American Craft Week this year is going to be very special,” said Melinda Knies, manager of the Mountain Made, a one the participants in this year’s event. Here at MOUTAIN MADE, we will be showcasing our handcrafted wood artists. “ Knies said.
“We will be hosting several live demonstrations by wonderful wood carver and Asheville artist, Dan Fredericks. Dan will be our signature artist on Friday night for the American Craft Week kick-off and reception.”
Knies goes on to say, “We will also have several members of the WNC Marquetry Group give daily live demonstrations of their beautiful wood inlay pictures and artworks.”
“Too often people feel that an arts and crafts gallery will be too formal or too expensive for the average person to visit while shopping for gifts for friends or family but this is not true especially during American Craft Week”, said Knies.
“Craft Week is a great time to stop in and browse local stores like ours. Our wood artists always make sure to have their best works on display during this week and will be bringing in lots of new handcrafted wood gifts priced as ‘affordable luxuries’”, said Knies.

“I have always thought American Craft Week as a wonderful time to sneak in some early gift shopping!” said Knies.
