Bio/Artist Statement

Kiln formed and carved glass by Mike Lightcap. Mike says, “Glass is a mysterious medium. It is exciting to see the depth of color combinations, and forms and textures you can get by melting glass in a kiln at various temperatures. I am fascinated by the mysteries of how many ways that glass, a seemingly hard material, can be manipulated.”

Most of his glasswork is accented with detailed illustrations or designs using the sandblasting method.
Mike is proud to be a juried member of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild and has been an artist for all of his working career.
