Bio/Artist Statement
Jean Saake painstakingly molds, rolls and pinch crafts each and every one of her ceramic pieces by hand while Carl, her husband (and crafting partner of 57+ years) hand paints the glaze on each and every one of them.
Jean has studied under several local masters and nationally recognized pottery schools. She is a master ceramic artist in molding, hand building and thrown clay pieces. Carl is a retired project architect and he brings his eye for color and skills at detailed drawings to their shared work.
They have become well known for their realistic ceramic apples and pears; whimsical critters, along with their hand painted holiday bells and hanging ornaments.
