In 2018, Stanton Allaben retired, sold his business and moved from SC to Cashiers, North Carolina in order to paint full time. And while he does work in watercolors, he is most well known for his oil paintings. His subject matter ranging from local landscapes to native wildlife.

Stan is self-taught and has on his own studied the works of all the famous impressionists as well as many nationally known artists living today.

He says about his paintings, “I paint primarily landscapes [now] using a combination of impressionism and realism. I like to use a loose style of painting so the piece looks like a painting and not a photograph.”

He is a member of the Oil Painters of America, a national artist organization which juries an artist’s work before acceptance.
